A Chat with Roberto Bonfanti, the founder of Laboratori Hur
Part 1: his passions, his philosophy
Coco Chanel said: "Life gives you the face you have at 20: it is your job to deserve what you will be at 50". I find that her words reveal a disarming truth. She also said:"No one is young after forty, but you can be irresistible at any age".
I have been dealing with skin of all ages for over 35 years. My beginning was not a conversion on the way to Damascus and not even a progressive falling in love. Mine is a constant path of study and research: I enjoy imagining a product in my mind and then making it become real and usable by someone I usually do not know.
I am passionate about basic ingredients, which are endless: the pairing of ingredients, besides being the fruit of ongoing research, requires vast dermatological expertise and on-field experimentation. The inspiration for a formula is still a mystery to me.
What is not a mystery to me anymore is my customers' skin. It is an essential part of the person before me and, thus, it must be seen as a whole: the skin, body, mind, feelings are all part of our way of being and living. Respecting them, taking care of oneself means loving oneself. Accompanying my customers down this path is a powerful stimulus for me and I feel constantly enriched. I believe it is a privilege to have the chance to connect with so many people on such a personal and intimate level. There is no one product perfect for everybody, it is only by listening, by having a good knowledge of skin biology and basic ingredients that you can achieve unthinkable results, in order to feel good and more beautiful, to be aware of your body and connected with the nature around you. By using this approach, the beauty routine I suggest comes naturally at the end of a process that I undertake alongside my customers.
Beauty in a broad sense is a very important goal at any age. There is one thing, however, that I keep saying: don't try to look young at all costs and it is possible to grow old with style. A change of attitude has an influence on the skin too.
This is exactly what my job is about: making skin look bright, toned-up and loved...a few wrinkles are not a big deal.
